M81 & M82 - Cigar and Bode's galaxies
M81 and M82 are the two brightest components of a group of galaxies located in the constellation of Ursa Major, which takes the name of Group of M81. In this image the only visible galaxies of this cluster are the two main ones (M81 on the right, M82 on the left) in addition to Holmberg IX, an irregular dwarf galaxy satellite of M81, like the Magellanic clouds for the Milky Way. This small galaxy is visible below M81 as a whitish spot that almost merges with the background noise. The structures visible in the two galaxies are spectacular. The shooting was carried out with a variable temperature between -2 ° C and -4 ° C and conditions that were not perfect due to the presence of snow on the ground.
