Pietro Benotto - Astronomy Olympiad 2015
I was born in 2000 on the hills of the Langhe and I've always lived in these magnificent places. I won in 2015 and in 2016 the silver and bronze medals at the International Astronomy Olympics as well as a special mention for the best observational round (2015). In 2019 I won the bronze medal at the International Physics Olympics.

My passion for astronomy was born gradually when I was 6-8 through the study of the sky on books, but the astronomy competitions in which I participated helped me to go deep into this subject. So, I began to approach the observation of the starry sky.

While admiring the beauty of the universe, I do not base my concept of observation of the sky on the pure contemplation, but I try to go further and understand the physical processes that make the phenomena studied possible.

I'm currently studying physics at the Scuola Normale in Pisa. After obtaining the Bachelor degree at the University of Pisa (2022) I'm following the master degree in astrophysics.
